From The Principal

Dear Parents,

The last day of school is upon us! As I write the last weekly newsletter, I wonder why it is that each year seems to go a little more quickly than the last?

Years of Memories – You will notice that the last few days your children have been bringing home pictures and stories that they may have created years ago. As a faculty we decided to send home past projects with each child at the end of each school year. We will no longer save the projects from year to year. This will help you to keep everything in a safe place. We often found that we had projects from students who had left the school and no way to contact them to return them. Pictures will still be saved in a special picture box and will possibly be used for graduation projects.

Thank You – Many thanks to Chris Schoaf and Rita Crotinger for organizing the End of the Year Celebration today. Thank you also to the many chaperones and Mr. Simpson (the Sock Hop leader). It went so smoothly and was so much fun! The students really enjoyed the assembly! So many students were able to participate! H.S.A. has provided so many things for our children, teachers and classrooms this year. Thank you to everyone who helped make this happen including those who participated in fundraisers.

Football Mania – Tomorrow you will be receiving your Football Mania tickets. Directions on the sale dates and deadlines are included in your packet of tickets. These are now an H.S.A. fundraiser, so all proceeds go to H.S.A. You will be receiving a tuition credit of 10% of every ticket you sell. These are easy to sell and a great way to offset your tuition for the 2010-11 school year!

Read, Read, Read – All students in Gr. K-7 have received information about our summer reading program. Remember that if your child completes the requirement set by his/her teacher, a Friday dress down pass will be awarded in September. Some students also received ideas of ways to keep math and other skill sharp this summer. Please help your child do these things so that the school year begins smoothly for him/her.

Summer Office Hours – The school office will be open until June 25th from 9:00-2:00. We will close for the month of July and reopen on August 2nd again from 9:00-2:00 until school starts on Aug. 25th.

And so the school year comes to a close, and summer looms ahead of us. My wish for you is that you can enjoy some relaxation, some rest and some quality family time. My prayer for all is a safe and happy summer. I look forward to seeing most of you in the fall.

God Bless,
Mrs. Cyndi Collins

"Be patient, therefore, brothers, until the coming of the Lord. See how the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient with it until it receives the early and the late rains. You too must be patient. Make your hearts firm, because the coming of the Lord is at hand" (James 5:7-8)

About

St. Isidore was a farm hand. He was born near Madrid, Spain in 1070. He attended mass every morning at a Madrid church before he set out for work as a farm laborer.  Isidore and his wife vowed celibacy in gratitude for a miracle which saved their son from drowning in a well. They were known for their holiness and care of the poor. St. Isidore died May 15, 1130. He was canonized with other Spaniards - St. Ignatius Loyola, St. Francis Xavier, and St. Teresa of Avila on March 12, 1622.
