Safety Regulations

Parking lot safety is extremely important at St. Isidore School and Parish.  There are hundreds of students that come and go to St. Isidore School and Religious Education.  Please follow all drop-off and pick-up rules to assure the safety of all students.

Drop-Off

  • Entrance to drop-off and exit from drop-off is from GARY AVENUE ONLY.  You may not enter from or exit to Army Trail Road.
  • Cars that wish to park and escort their children or watch while their children walk to the Safety Zone MUST park in the POPEYE'S LOT.  This is the only thing that the POPEYE'S LOT may be used for.
  • Children that are dropped off should only exit the car from the curbside.  Please make sure that children are prepared to exit.  It can slow the line down if time is being taken to gather bookbags, etc.
  • Children can exit the car all along the curb.  This means that you do no have to be right in front of the Ministry Center.  Children can get out in front of the church and walk towards the Safety Zone in front of the Ministry Center.

Pick-Up

  • Entrance to pick-up and exit from pick-up is from GARY AVENUE ONLY.  You may not enter from or exit to Army Trail Road.
  • When you enter the parking lot and park to wait for your child, please park facing the church.  DO NOT BACK UP.  Everyone will be exiting in the same direction.  This will assure everyone's safety.
  • To leave your parking spot, turn right and curve out towards Gary Avenue.
  • You may use Popeye's lot at this time to wait for your child also.  Please be cautious, as there will be other patrons of the restaurant using the lot at this time.  Students may not leave the Safety Zone until a parent is present.
  • NO DOGS or other pets are allowed in or near the Safety Zone or in the school without prior permission.  Please keep your pet in the car if your bring it along to pick up your child.  We have students that are extremely allergic to animals and want to assure everyone's safety.

PLEASE MAKE SURE THAT ANYONE WHO DROPS OFF OR PICKS UP YOUR CHILD IS AWARE OF THESE SAFETY PROCEDURES.

Bus Students

Students who reside in District 93 are eligible for bus service.  Parents of bus students must inform the school office in WRITING that a student will not be riding the bus.  We cannot accept a verbal message from a student that he/she is not riding the bus.  No student may bring a friend home on the bus.  All students riding the bus are expected to follow all rules and behave in an orderly, respectful manner at all times.  Students are representing St. Isidore School at this time.  Violation of bus rules may result in suspension of bus privileges.  Students will not be allowed to change their mode of transportation without a written note from a parent/guardian.  If a student is a bus student, he/she will ride the bus unless a note is written.  Please do not ask your child to exit with the bus students if they are not riding the bus.

Day Care

For the safety of your child, St. Isidore School requires the following information regarding any child who attends a day care center before or after school:

Child’s name
Name, address and phone number of day care center
Authorization from the parent to release the student to the center and its representative
Mode of transportation that will be used to transport the child.

Videotaping and/or photographing of students

Occasionally students may be photographed/videotaped while participating in school and school related activities including fundraisers.  It is understood that these images may be used in a positive publication (newspaper, parish website, etc.) to publicize the school and its students.  The diocese allows for this positive publicity within diocesan guidelines.  You will find the diocesan agreement attached to this handbook.  If you do not want your child pictured, you must complete the diocesan waiver that is also attached to this handbook..

About

St. Isidore was a farm hand. He was born near Madrid, Spain in 1070. He attended mass every morning at a Madrid church before he set out for work as a farm laborer.  Isidore and his wife vowed celibacy in gratitude for a miracle which saved their son from drowning in a well. They were known for their holiness and care of the poor. St. Isidore died May 15, 1130. He was canonized with other Spaniards - St. Ignatius Loyola, St. Francis Xavier, and St. Teresa of Avila on March 12, 1622.
