Many of you have been asking about how Deacon Terry is doing. Here’s the scoop from a recent visit our Joanna had with him on the phone:
He had surgery on March 18 to replace his right shoulder. His rotator cuff was too deteriorated to repair so the shoulder replacement involved an additional special procedure to ensure he would have close to full use of his right arm. The doctor has told him that he will have good strength in his arm but that he will only be able to bend it to within 4-6 inches from his body. He is satisfied with that as he should have no problems buttoning a shirt, holding a chalice, and carrying objects. He is rehabilitating at Wynscape in Wheaton. He has a doctor appointment soon and will learn more about his progress and how much longer he will be at Wynscape. His physical therapy is aggressive with limits. He is hoping he will start weight-bearing exercises in a couple of weeks. He is also committed to losing weight and as of today, he has lost 60 lbs. In addition, his leg/foot prosthesis has been fitted and he has started standing for short periods of time holding on to a bar with his left hand!
He sounded upbeat on the phone would enjoy getting phone calls. Below is his contact information if you would like to call or send a card:
