Our parish will be celebrating our centennial
with a year of joyful festivities, starting on
Saturday, May 16, 2020. The doors of our
church will be opened for the 5:00 pm Mass
with a solemn procession from the chapel.
(You should have received your “Reserve the
date” post card.)
Invitations have been sent to
descendants of the early families of
our parish to be our special guests.
Following the Mass, there will be refreshments
served in the Ministry Center and we have the
opportunity to meet our honored guests.
A pictorial display of the early days will be
on the walls of the original church – our present-day
chapel. Throughout the year, there will be events
celebrating this jubilee year.
In remembrance of the founding parishioners’ famous
Chicken Dinner, which brought visitors in their horsedrawn
carriages from as far as Elgin and Chicago, we
will be offering a Chicken Dinner on June 20 in the
Ministry Center. But, unlike the farmers’ homemade
meals, the 2020 Chicken Dinner will be catered.
There will be a “cake walk”, bag toss games, and
entertainment by Prairie Station – a contemporary
Country and Western Band.
This will be by reservation only, so watch the bulletin
for further details, as well as for other upcoming
100 wonderful years to remember and to celebrate!!!
