In September of 2015, our dream to build a Perpetual adoration Chapel became Phase III of our Honoring Our Roots, Cultivating Our Future capital campaign.
WHAT IS PERPETUAL ADORATION?
Adoration is a style of prayer and opportunity for quiet time in the presence of Jesus in the Eucharistic Host displayed in a vessel called the Monstrance (meaning “to show”). There is no right or wrong way to do it. You sit or kneel. You silently recite prayers like the rosary, you pray silently in your own words, you read scripture or other spiritual materials, or you simply sit quietly in God’s presence and listen. Lives are changed by the regular practice of spending time in a holy hour (or half hour or 20 minutes or 10 minutes) in quiet consciousness of the presence of God. The key word is SILENCE. We all need more silence in our noisy lives. Perpetual Adoration is the opportunity for a parish to have someone in prayer in the chapel 24 hours per day 7 days per week. It changes lives and it changes parishes.
We invite all parishioners who have not already joined our campaign and other Catholics in our region to support this important project of deepening our prayer life and our relationship to our Lord Jesus Christ.
Estimated project cost* $ 550,000
- Lead gift from a parish family: $ 25,000
- Stark Bequest: 110,000
- Honoring Our Roots, Cultivating Our Future Capital Campaign (phases I & II) will contribute up To: 195,000
- Project-specific pledges/payments are providing at least $220,000
*Reminder: The estimated project cost is based on pre-design calculations from our architect and two contractors. Every effort will be made to keep our actual construction budget at or below $550,000.
As with any construction project, contingencies, fees, and other furnishing costs will be included and have the potential to make final costs higher than initial projections. For that reason, we encourage those who want to support the project financially, but have not done so yet, to follow through with plans to make pledges and payments through October 2018.
Our next step is to contract our architect to begin the actual design process, which will give us detailed building plans and cost projections. We have waited until now to expend the funds for architectural plans to be reasonably assured that our pledge goal and projected pledge payments would be realized.
Brochures, FAQ sheets, and pledge cards are available at narthex project display and Chapel leaflet rack.
