Tonight is our STREAM Night. The students have worked hard on their projects and are excited to share them with you tonight. A few things are important to know about the evening:
1. Students are encouraged to wear Spiritwear shirts (jeans are acceptable, but no sweats please)
2. Students will be allowed to enter the classrooms at 6:20, parents at 6:30
3. Grades Preschool, Kindergarten, 3, 4 & 7 will be presenting in their classrooms at 6:30. Grades 1, 2, 5,6 & 8 will be presenting in their classrooms at 7:15
4. All students should be in the classrooms for the entire time their class is presenting. They may leave after that, but projects will stay here.
5. Students not presenting must be with parents – no students may visit other classrooms or the refreshment area without a parent.
We are all looking forward to this fun evening of exploration!
Family Mass and Pot Luck – On Sunday, (March 10th ) we will attend the 10:00 mass in the church and sharing a pot luck lunch in the gym after mass. Please sign up on School Speak today so we can order the correct amount of chicken. Remember that the time changes this weekend and we “spring ahead” an hour on Saturday night.
Lenten Service – We began the season of Lent yesterday on Ash Wednesday. As a school we will be participating in a few different service projects. Traditionally we join with Religious Education to “Fill the Pantry”. Our Neighborhood Food Pantry feeds many families right here in DuPage County. We ask for financial contributions rather than food donations because the Food Pantry can stretch the dollars to buy so much more using volume discounts. The students will hear more about this in the next week so please encourage them to do an extra chore around the house or share some of their allowance to fill the jars that will be in each classroom. Watch for more details of individual classroom projects and another whole school project coming later in Lent.
Congratulations – Our 6th and 7th grade students recently participated in the Illinois Math Contest. The highest scorers (in alphabetical order) in 6th grade were: David Callender, Caden Falco, Marina Kari, Anderson Martin and Matthew Silveyra. In 7th grade: Justin Carlson, Ben Conte, Derek Ittner, Clare Kelliher and Joey Mahoney. Congratulations to all of these students!
Congratulations to the 7th grade boys basketball team for clinching 1st place for the third year in a row!
Safety Reminders – I have seen a few parents that have not been following the safety procedures for drop off and pick up. There is no car pool line at the end of the school day. All cars must be parked in the church lot facing the church or in the Popeye’s Lot. NO cars may be parked or student picked up/dropped off from the smaller lots near the parish office or chapel. Please follow these simple rules to assure everyone’s safety.
Main Event – It is not too late for your child to attend the outing at the Main Event. It was a “buy it now” at the Gala and information is now in the e-envelope.
Chess Scholars – The next session of Chess Scholars begins next Wednesday. Be sure to register your child – info is in the e-envelope.
FFF – Fun Food Friday orders are due tomorrow, Friday, at 8:00am.
I hope to see you all tonight and on Sunday!
