Dear Parents and Guardians,
Today we practiced our first of three fire drills required by Illinois School Code. The students did a great job, and definitely understand what it means to be safe. The Bloomingdale Fire Department has scheduled our observed fire drill for next week. Please do not fret if you happen to be driving by the school and see fire engines at some point next week! We’re all good!
Fall Picture Day- School pictures are tomorrow. Picture day is an out of uniform day, so your child does not need to wear his/her uniform. Please refer to your handbook for the out of uniform policy. Don’t forget your order forms!
School Speak- All schools in the Diocese of Joliet use School Speak as their main student information system. It is required by the Diocese for all families to update their profiles including the acknowledgement of the Student Parent Handbook and the Acceptable Use policy. Please be sure this is done as the system will soon begin to lock non-compliant families out.
New Family Welcome- All new SIS families are invited to join us for a special dinner this Saturday 9/7 after the 5pm mass. Please rsvp to the school office if you have not yet replied.
Athletics- Volleyball season begins on Friday with our home openers! Let’s pack the gym as we root our Cyclones on!
5th / 6th grade girls- 5:30pm
7th / 8th grade boys- 6:30pm
7th / 8th grade girls A- 7:30pm
7th / 8th grade girls B- 8:30pm
Standardized Testing- Beginning on September 23rd, Students in grades 3-8 will be taking the IOWA Assessment, and students in grades 2,3,5,7 will be taking the matching Cognitive Abilities Test (CogAT). While these tests are only snapshots of your child’s learning, they are important pieces of data that we use here at school to drive decision making regarding curriculum, instruction, and assessment. It is very important that your child is here for the testing and that your child is well-rested.
Hot Lunch- Thank you for understanding as we were put in a position to have to increase our hot lunch price beginning the month of October. In loading the new information into School Speak, we noticed that some families were inadvertently charged for the increase on their September orders. This is an error. You will not be billed for the increase in September, it begins in October. We are working to rectify the situation, however, if you happened to be billed for an increase in September, please disregard.
And finally…. Go Bears!
