Dear Parents and Guardians,
Next week is Catholic Schools Week! Catholic Schools Week allows the students and staff of St. Isidore to show our gratitude for the support and sacrifice of our families and our parish. It is because of this support that we have the opportunity to teach and learn in such a wonderful, faith-filled environment. Besides reflecting on the gift of Catholic education, CSW also means FUN! There are many, many events and activities planned for next week- my personal favorites include the staff vs. 8th grade volleyball game, the teacher raffle, and the special guest speakers for our morning announcements. This year we have parish, diocesan, and community leaders helping us start our day beginning at arrival. Fr. Jim, Fr. Belmonte (Superintendent of Schools), Bloomingdale Police Officer Sean Noonan, Village Administrator Peter Scalera, and Bloomingdale Mayor Franco Coladipietro all plan to lead us in the Pledge of Allegiance, daily prayer and morning announcements during Catholic Schools Week. We are excited to welcome them to our school.

Bring your family and friends to dinner and visit your teachers who will be working there! Find out which teachers will be selling pies in a pie costume! (Hint: it’s not me.) Listen to the teachers sing the McDonalds jingle when they receive a tip! Be sure to turn in the fundraiser slip (found on School Speak) so that our school can earn 20% of the proceeds. Hope to see you there!
Athletics – Congratulations to our 8th grade boys basketball team and our 8th grade girls basketball team who both won the 48th annual Treis & Aird basketball tournament hosted by St. Pet’s this past weekend. We have two shiny new trophies to add to our trophy case. Super proud of our student athletes and coaches.
First Reconciliation – This Saturday is a very special day for our 2nd grade class. They will be receiving the sacrament of penance. It is so comforting to be reminded, even as adults, that there is nothing we could say or do that our Lord would not forgive. This sacrament gives us that gift.
Winter Weather– As we continue to move through winter, please be reminded that the Emergency Closing Center will be alerted if we must close school. You will be able to see this information on your local new broadcast crawls, listen for it on numerous radio stations, as well as by logging onto the ECC website. You will also be notified by email and text using School Speak should we need to close for the day. While we hope we do not have to use any snow/cold days, it’s always important to be aware of our procedures.
2020-2021 Registration– Registration for next school year will begin next week. Detailed information will be sent in a separate email. If you know of anyone who may be interested in coming to SIS, please tell them about our Open House on Sunday. Please help share the word that SIS is a wonderful place to be! We are St. Isidore!
Reminder – Hot lunch orders are due tomorrow.
I look forward to many more Catholic Schools Weeks together!
