Dear Parents and Guardians,
The weeks are flying by. Next week marks the beginning of Lent. Lent is a great time to slow down and regroup. This Lent our school students will be visiting Feed My Starving Children, praying the Stations of the Cross, receiving reconciliation, and participating in Ministry Mondays. SIS will be supporting our parish ministries that focus on human needs throughout Lent. Our students will spend this Lent learning about the needs of our community and how St. Isidore Parish is an advocate for those in need. On each of the five Mondays of Lent, students can choose to be out of uniform by donating a minimum of $1.00 each Monday for the following ministry:
March 2- Common Good
March 9- St. Isidore Organic Garden
March 16- PADS
March 23- St. Vincent DePaul Ministry
April 6- Common Good
This Ash Wednesday two Village of Bloomingdale officials will be spending the morning with our 3rd grade class. Village President Franco Coladipietro and Village Administrator Peter Scalera will attend the school liturgy and then join 3rd grade after Mass to collaborate with them on their upcoming STEM/PBL project. If you are able to join us for Mass on Ash Wednesday, please be sure to welcome our Village Officials and thank them for their support for St. Isidore School and Parish.
It’s about fun! It’s about friendship! It’s about camaraderie! It’s about making a difference for our children! One of the greatest opportunities of the year to come together as a school and parish community is close at hand! In two short days we will celebrate the gift of Catholic education, and the gift of friendship, at our gala. There are so many awesome live and silent auction items to bid on, and you can’t forget the Fund a Cause. This year’s Fund a Cause is for our new STEM initiative. Help us raise $15,000 to fund the first phase of our transformation to a STEM based approach- a Makers Space. We need your help to purchase interactive equipment and supplies such as 3D printers, robotics, electronic sensors, and so much more! Phase Two will focus on adding an Innovation Center that will include flexible seating within an open learning space and a greenhouse! This technology along with problem-based learning will support our continued commitment to excellence in Catholic education. Please plan to help fund this cause!
