Dear Parents and Guardians,

Here at school we teach our students different types of prayers; prayers of thanksgiving, prayers of petition, formal prayers, contemplative prayer, song, spontaneous prayer, and so many others. As we approach Veterans Day, I would like to offer a prayer of thanks for all of our veterans as well as all men and women currently serving our country.

Dear Heavenly Father,

In every age, you call men and women to defend your children from oppression, tyranny, and evil. Since our founding as a nation, countless Americans have stepped forward to defend our country and other countries from aggressors and terrorists.

We honor and revere these men and women today: those who rest in honored glory, those who still suffer from the wounds of war, and those who, with us, enjoy the blessing of living in the land of the free and the home of the brave.

Thank you for the selfless sacrifice of these men and women and their families. Help us to remember them, to pray for them, and to care for them. Please bring all our departed veterans into your kingdom and console their families with your undying love. Send forth your spirit to heal our veterans and active military wounded in body and soul, and grant them the satisfaction of having served you as they have served us.

We can never thank you enough for the privilege of living in America, where we enjoy the gifts of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. May we strive to keep these rights available to all. Amen.

Parent Teacher Conferences/ Thanksgiving Break- Parent teacher conferences will take place on Thursday, November 16th from 1pm-9pm and Friday, November 17th from 9am-2pm. Students dismiss from school Thursday, November 16th at 11:00am. There is no aftercare on Thursday, November 16th. There is no school on Friday, November 17th for conferences. St. Isidore Catholic School will be closed for Thanksgiving Break November 20-24. School will resume on Monday, November 27th. Please contact your child’s teacher if you have any questions about your conference time.

Football Mania- While Bears fans are probably not enjoying this season, our Football Mania program is still producing winners from St. Isidore! Congratulations to Jennifer McFadden who won $25 on a ticket sold by the Scislowicz family.

Spiritwear- SICS launched it’s holiday school spiritwear online store this week! The store will remain open thru November 19th at 11:59pm EST. Place your orders directly online and the orders will be shipped to your home prior to Christmas. The flannel pants are super comfy and popular! Please note that the spirit wear ordered is just that, spirit wear. These are not formal uniform pieces that can be worn to school daily; however, these pieces can be worn to school on Spirit Wear days.

Hot Lunch/FFF – December’s hot lunch and FFF menus are open for ordering. The ordering will close on Monday, November 27th. Any orders on your menu that are in “red” have not been placed. If your orders are in “blue”, the order is placed.

Weather Reminder- Please remind your children to wear coats, hats, gloves, scarves, etc. to school as the weather becomes cooler. We do go outside for recess any time the windchill is 10 degrees or above. Per policy, students may only remain inside with a dated doctor’s note. With that said, our lost and found is growing! We remind the students on the morning announcements to check the lost and found in the office if they are missing anything, yet we still have plenty of items in our lost and found. We will have a table set up outside of the school office on conferences where you can see if any of the items in the lost and found belong to your child/ren.

As I conclude, I’m not sure if I should say Go Bears or Go Panthers! Either way we get the Panther’s draft pick. If you are a football fan, enjoy tonight’s game (I’ll be there!), and as always ~ Roll Tide and Bear Down.
